Since 2012, VRHS Crew has grown from a team of 10 girls to a team of more than 35 girls and boys.

The booster club’s Mission

The Booster Club aims to contribute to the advancement of the VRHS/OS Crew Team.  The booster club’s primary purposes are to provide increased community awareness and sustainable, successful financial support for the crew team.

This includes, but is not limited to,

o  lending support to the coach and assistant coach(es),

o   acquiring and maintaining crew boats, launches, and other equipment,

o  organizing events, fundraisers, and regatta support, and

o  team social activity support.

We aim to develop, encourage, and support participation and competition in the sport of rowing by the students of Valley Regional High School and Old Saybrook High School, thereby promoting the development of their moral character, sportsmanship, team spirit, fair play, and honesty.

Rowing is the ultimate sport. There is commitment, teamwork, and great competition. And physically, it is one of the best sports a person can do. You work every muscle group, it is a low-impact workout, and you don’t have to worry about the serious injuries that come up in other sports.
— John Laundon, Head Coach 2014-2021
