Our coaching staff works around the clock to keep both the kids and the sculls in the water.

HEAD COACH: ASHLEY MALINOVSKY

Prior to taking on the role as head crew coach for VRHS and OSHS Coach Malinovsky coached the middle and high school field hockey and lacrosse programs with Old Saybrook school system for 12 years. The 2022 Spring Season was Ashley’s first coaching crew for Valley and in her new role she did a spectacular job maintaining and modifying the program. In her first year she has brought both the Boys and Girls to the CPSRA Regatta finals.

ASSISTANT COACH & TECHNICIAN: RENNY SCHOONMAKER

Coach Schoonmaker literally keeps the sculls in the water, he fixes the boats and, having rowed for Yale, brings a wealth of experience to our team. His knowledge of all things ‘rowing’ provides an alternate perspective to the coaching staff.

ASSISTANT COACH: BRANDON GREEN

New to coaching this season, Coach Green rowed throughout high school for Lyme-Old Lyme and Blood Street Skulls and brings his love of rowing and (calloused) hands-on experience to the crew team.
